Checking email has been one of my daily routine. Sometimes I receive lot of emails but some of it is junk mail or also called as ‘spam’ mail. I am sure every internet user is just like me. We hate spam mail very much. Lucky, most email companies provided their user with spam detection and spam blocking that enables us to reduce or differentiate spam mail from other emails.

That is for electronic mailing system. How about the real mailing system? I mean the real mail box that is in front of our door house. There is almost impossible for us to control the type of mail that reaches to our house. I am sure some of you think that this is not a big matter since you can filter all of the mails by yourself. That may be true, but you will have problem as you don’t really know which mail comes from reliable source or which mail can be trusted.

Believe it or not, there are numbers of people that has been scammed by offline mail due to their poor awareness of this matter. Father of my friend is one the victim. He received a mail stated that he won a lucky draw. The prizes are marvelous; a free family trip to an island (I forgot which island) and also some money. Looking at the prizes, he quickly becomes ‘blind’. Then he deposited some processing fee as requested by the scam company and after that he never heard any reply from them.

Offline mail may seem orthodox method of mailing but somehow the tactic seems to show effect as the mail goes directly to the owner and is not filtered or being categorized like electronic mail. So, how come the scam company gets his mail address? Believe it or not, there are actually number of companies that sell your information to third party. The easiest way to handle this issue is just to used reputable service such as Catalogs that can unlisted your address from those companies. Then, you be aware to not submitting your home address easily to any untrusted survey, form, or such.
